My short review about the DSFX Effects...
Apr 11th, 2008, 11:57pm

Basically they are not bad but if i may be honest the weakest is the reverb as it doesn't sound naturally to me. Perhaps i became a spoiled one after years of using alot's of plugins & Reason. The chorus & flanger effects do rock & even beat the chorus/flanger device from Reason ! The phaser is not bad aswell. If i would have knowledge with DSP  i would help with coding.  Cheesy I can't wait what the DSFX compressor will sound like if it get's finished as soon as possible.

Thanks for your review. I thought that the reverb sounds good, too Smiley. I put great efforts in it to prevent it from ringing and being granular (especially on very short, low decay sounds). These were my main guidelines atleast. Maybe i am on the wrong way?

Well all what i know to answer is that the vst-market especially in the last 3 years experienced alot of reverb-releases & each reverb-plugin had it's pro & coins. For example there are plugins that suit to electronic sounds & there are reverbs which work only for accoustic such classic or jazz music. Each developer seems to have their own tricks & theories how a reverb should sound like but at the very end the costumer sits & he/she will show them which of all the products sounds best. The costumer doesn't care how to acomplish a good reverb. He/she will go therefore only by instinct...further more by ears & if it doesn't sound naturally to him/her then the ears will start to get irritated instead satisfied. Ur reverb might good for use for danceable music but it fails to express alot typs of sound-characteristics that u would expect to get. So this effect is no allrounder. The same feel i had first with Reasons first reverb-device but they have learnt & put alot of effort to bring out a reverb-machine that now satisfies in alot of more things as just reverbation. All types of rooms, weird or natural reverbs, even tap-delay & equalization for the reverb-signal can be done. As sofar i couldn't find an alternative allthough the vst-plugin-world would offer some nice reverbs that i like but none of them sound as naturally to me as Reasons RV7000. Brain nobody expects the very magic at the beginning phase because u are the only one at Audio Simulation that can code. The rest is webmaster, grahpican, beta-testers & manager. As i told in the former forum before, ....Propellerhead startet very small but they had one advantage from the beginning....2 coder & 1 manager & today they grown to a big company of maybe with 30 to 50 employees & it seems they still hire more people to bring out more in a shorter time. Imageline had only 1 coder all the time. Since a few years they hired a 2nd. guy who handles for the chief coder dirty work. Patience & time are essenttiell.

Phew! Long answers you always have. If i'd want to react to everything, i could sit here all day  Wink.

However, i couldn't resist do give feedback on some of your thoughts. I do completely agree with the things you wrote. But, do not forget that these effects are just plain and basic addons to DS2 (spent a week with them).

Then, you have gone more further, even a bit off topic. I know that your critics are always meant for improvement, but there's one area where i'm not planning to expand (because i don't want to), and that's Audio Simulation. Maybe it sounds stupid, but i like it that way as it is. Audio Simulation is now 12 years old, and is still here and will be here after another 12 years, too. Just as a small company with me and with some of my friends. I haven't got huge plans like taking over the world, i'm just doing my little apps and if somebody likes them, that's an extra.  Smiley

I didn't said u should expand ur company. I just wanted the puplic to know that a 1 guy can't make happen everything in just a short amount of time. This is why i remembered to time & patience as essentiell. Nothing more. Smiley Bigger companies of course just don't earn more money. They have more resources & therefore can finish alot within a shorter timespawn.

And the reason why my feedback ends as a roman is that i'm not so confident with my level of english which then results to more sentences as maybe would be neccesary. And sometimes u need to give examples & explain an opinion deeper.  Embarrassed Well that's itl. I guess i can't change.  Roll Eyes Cheesy
